How it works

From your first call to the courtroom

Most tenants have never been to court. Here is what working with us looks like, so you know what comes next.

  1. 01

Step 1: You call or walk in

Tell us what happened and what papers you have. It takes about fifteen minutes, and nothing you say goes to your landlord.

  2. 02

Step 2: We check that we can help

Income, where you live and the kind of problem. If we can’t take it on, we say so and point you to someone who can.

  3. 03

Step 3: A lawyer reads your papers

Bring or photograph everything: the lease, notices, texts, receipts, photos of the home. We find the deadlines and the defenses.

  4. 04

Step 4: We agree on a plan, in writing

You decide what you want: to stay, to leave on your terms, to get the repair or the deposit. We put our agreement on paper.

  5. 05

Step 5: We act for you

Letters, filings, inspections and talks with the landlord’s lawyer. You get a call before anything important happens.

  6. 06

Step 6: We go to court together

If it gets to a hearing, your lawyer is there with you, and we explain the result before you leave the building.
